Patty Buchek as Coach
Of all my work, Career Coach is my favorite role. It is the most constructive application of my professional expertise and personal talents. Working very closely with each client to define their career progression, draws on my integrity in ways that matter greatly.

What happens when you hire a coach?

You take yourself more seriously.
You set better goals.
You kindle creativity and motivation.
You take more effective and focused actions immediately.
You stop putting up with what is dragging you down.
You build momentum and advance to results.
You benefit from human synergy.

What do you focus on?
It’s a moving-forward focus. Coaching concentrates resources primarily on the present and future, rather than on the past. We work to set powerful goals that naturally pull you toward the achievement, rather than setting tasks that require you first to overcome inertia.

How does it work?
Relationship is the foundation of coaching. Based on integrity and respect, coach and client combine their expertise for a richer outcome. Together we’ll evaluate your situation: your goals, your strength suite, your challenge suite, and your coaching needs. We’ll illuminate a set of objectives and discuss timeframes for accomplishing those, outlining your coaching program as we do. Next, we’ll choose the session schedule that’s best for you and we’ll structure our business agreement around that.

1-on-1 coaching takes place over the phone. Sessions are generally one hour long, which is a good amount of time to remain concentrated and work.

What happens in coaching sessions?
All coaching sessions are yours and you may determine how you want to use this time. The pattern below is popular and reliable.

The first session is a review of your intake assessments and career-to-date: choices, experiences, skills development, shining moments, disappointments, relationships, etc. This career reconnaissance will supply the platform for our work together.

Subsequent sessions may follow a simple and flexible agenda that allows us to: review developments resulting from your previously set goals, celebrate and improve what is working well, solve problems, and clarify follow-up actions; establish new objectives to increase momentum; choose execution strategies for those that will bring quality results quickly; seize opportunities to learn new techniques, supported by verbal and printed instruction; review, edit or develop new job search collateral, electronic or printed.

Called Action Items, you will have a list of assignments at the close of every session. The items will stem from our collaboration and we will keep track of them as we talk. From this list of possibilities, you will choose those you think best and reasonable in terms of your time and talent.  This set of assignments will be clarified, including scope, resources, technique, materials and metrics. And we’ll review your progress in the session that follows.

When we do achieve momentum, a search can take off and we find ourselves needing to prepare for an interview suddenly or develop a presentation or something else to maximize an unexpected opportunity.  There is a lot of flexibility.

What does it cost?
Most coaches package a mutually agreed upon number of sessions, often charging per month fees for weekly sessions. Some require a minimum commitment of three months, though Mind Match does not.

Mind Match offers session bundles that flex from 2 per month to 4 per month, plus the popular 3-session bundle which affords the most scheduling flexibility. All of these bundles are available with a resume development add on, at a reduced cost to you.

Mind Match supports mid-level professionals who take action to develop professionally both in the work place and on their own. Coaching fees range from about $250 to $675 on a monthly basis. Included are “quick check” phone calls or e-mails between sessions; a number of assessment tools designed specifically to help you clarify and analyze your career information; and many original worksheets and guidelines to support new skills.

Often we develop resumes and additional marketing collateral to support your campaign. You may review this part of the service on our Resume Development page.

Making a commitment to working with a Career Coach is a powerful investment decision. You will invest not only money, but time, and effort, and aspects of your future. Many coaching clients claim that this investment in their careers and in themselves has yielded returns, both financial and otherwise, many times the original outlay.
